Monday at 8:18 am
Poor Tom seemed nervous and not sure how to approach her. He got shot down. Is there a similar Korean word or phrase for when a guy get’s rejected?
Monday at 8:19 am
very good vocab today it was really fun too
happy new year
Monday at 11:06 am
vangelicmonk, Yes, there’s a word that’s just perfect for this situation : Tom was 퇴짜 맞다.
퇴짜 맞다 is a slang but common expression used for situations where guys get rejected.
Rigo,

Hehe thanks
No one else noticed!

I think 남대문 might be a lame date from the perspective of 마나…
Maybe Tom should have invited her out for 분식 instead…

Hey everyone! I just got back from 제주 last night. It was a lot of fun and I got to practice a lot of Korean. Here is just one interesting story:
One day after getting back to the hotel, I couldn’t find my cell phone! “Oh, no! I think I left it on the bus!” In Korea, having a cell phone is really important, so I was a little worried. I went to a PC cafe right away and immediately received a wonderful e-mail. My friend who lives in Seoul had tried to call me 30 minutes ago, and someone from the bus company answered my phone! In the email, my friend told me the bus company name and cell phone number.
I went back the hotel and called the company office. The person who answered said “Kukdong Transit.” I said “Hello, I’m a foreigner, so please speak slowly!” “OK, I understand.” He replied. I told him, ‘Today, I was on a bus headed to Jeju City and I left my phone on the bus. I want to come to the office to get it. Can you please give the the office address?”
After writing down the address, I got into a taxi and told him to take me to “Ora 1-dong.” I explained the story to the taxi driver.
(It’s worth noting here that Korean address usually aren’t given by street, but instead by “dongs” which are a few blocks in diameter. The driver had to ask someone on the street exactly where the company’s office was)
Behind the city bus terminal are many different offices for all the transit companies, but we found the one we needed. I went up to the office for Kukdong Transit and met the President. I asked him “Do you have my lost cell phone?” He had it! I was really happy!

Yay! I’m really enjoying your lessons on here! The premium content is really good, and the PDFs that are included are really helpful. Jjinja! I’m looking forward to your guys next Beginner lesson, as I am still only a beginner! I think I might be one of the only non-Korean people posting a comment, but learning another language is awesome! Spanish and my native language were so close to each other, but Korean is such a challenge for me, especially pronunciation! These lessons make learning Korean so much easier. Ka sa hamnida!

does anyone else find it funny how Keith is always asking Seol out on dates after the recording is over? heh…it seems like every other episode! I like the persistance, Keith
Wednesday at 5:21 pm
Hi,
I started a few days ago with koreanclass101 (already two weeks ago maybe) so I saw the PDF today. I was very surprised that you wrote about the fire at Namdaemun, even so the lesson was made in December 2007 and the fire occured in October 2008. Good work everyone to keep everything on the newest. I really enjoy kc101 and feel friendship especially towards Keith, Seol and Hyunwoo. They appear so much. Thank you for giving me a good time. I wonder what will happen between Seol and Keith. Hyunwoo, good work also on your other HPs.
Wednesday at 5:24 pm
Sorry, October is wrong. February 2008 is the tragic incident’s month.

Hi everyone, I’ll just drop a random post here.
I just did beginner lessons 1-19 yesterday and today so I’ve been listening to Keith and 설 for like 8 hours in a row. I figured why say anything until I reach the end of the beginner series but hey, why not start here
. I feel really sorry for what happened to 남대문, I heard about it last year the day after it had happened.. I’m still going to check it out though next summer when I’m in Korea.
Gotta go, 80 more beginner lessons to cover this weekend
. I’ve already been studying Korean at the university (as a major) for a year but I figured it’d be best to just listen to the beginner first before I get into intermediate.. See you there, bye

Jeroen
Thanks for dropping by to leave us a message!! See you in the intermediate lessons!!
Keep up the good work!!

Wednesday at 10:52 am
Hello Thomas,
“simply think an opposite!”
Why are Koran people afraid of talking you in Korean?
Because it’s NOT because of you BUT because of them not being able to speak in English. They are afraid that they might say or use some English when they talk with you. That’s why!
Don’t wait for them to speak out to you. It’s your job to break the ‘wall’ between you and them. I personally did that when I was in Canada.
Here is my question for you…

“Do you want have Korean friends?”, “Do you want to know them better?”, “Do you want to learn Korean from Korean friends?”, “Do you like learning Korean?”
If your answer is “Yes”, what are you waiting for!!???
Your time is precious! Your time is limited! Your opportunity is limited. You have to “make things happen”, never “watch things happen” or never say to yourself, “what’s happening?”. It’s your life!
I can see that you want to be close with Korean people. It’s UPTO you!
cheers, Thomas~~
Tim

Kim, I don’t know how I did it.
When I got here, I just told the computer repairman that I wanted my computer rigged up for typing in Korean and he rigged it up.
Thursday at 10:34 am
Hello Tom,
haha~~ I hope your computer works fine now…
cheers,
Tim
