Sorry everyone! There’s been an error. The main ingredient in 소주 (soju) is potato, not rice!!! :  : Well, have a good 추석 everyone!

Happy Chuseok everyone!

I’m definitely going to get brownie points with my Korean classmates when I wish them happy Chuseok tomorrow.

Is it coincidence that Korean Chuseok, Chinese mid-Autumn festival and National Day, and Japanese Goruden Uiiku (Golden Week) are so close together? It can’t be a coincidence, can it?

즐거운 추석 ^_^!!!!
(Happy chuseok)

Yeah, Max, I guess it all comes from a similar origin. After all, the full moon is always meaningful to all the three countries and and especially the 8th full moon falls on about the same time as the first harvest of the year :D I guess maybe that’s the common reason.

Everyone,

Here’s a list of photos of the food I ate today for Chuseok. Not all of them are 추석-only items  but, I hope this will be interesting for you.

송편 is pretty easy to make the shape pretty, but what’s difficult is how to make it delicious. How to put in just the right amount of filling. :D

i find it interesting and really an easier way to learn korean effectively. but unfortunately, i found that some of the vocabulary and meanings were not provided in the lesson notes..it’s a bit difficult for those who are new to korean to know about the contents thoroughly..

[…] Go-Stop is usually played during 설날 and 추석 but certainly makes it into a regular game night in Korea. There’s a certainty that every night of the week someone in Korea/Japan/Hawaii/Your mom’s house/etc is playing the game. […]

I think I’m already starting to read Hangul. I’m disappointed that I cannot ADD the words covered in this lesson to my Word Bank…. Why? That’s quite upsetting, I’d really like to work on ALL words that are covered. I really like the Flashcard feature too.

timandyou says:

Thanks for listening, Linda…
I think that at this point, we do not carry ‘Word Bank’ and ‘Flashcard’ features on this Cultural Class… (not sure 100%).
We made this lesson for listeners to simply enjoy listening…
Thanks for understanding,
cheers,
Tim
