Hello! I’ve been waiting for this Korean podcast since it was announced a while ago! But it seems I can’t download the lessons on the feed… maybe it will work later. Anyways, congratulations on a great start so far!
Hi Ben,
This is actually a known issue which should resolve itself shortly. In case you’re interested, at about 2:30PM EST on Thursday, Aug 23 we got notice from our media hosting provider that there was a momentary DNS misconfiguration that may have caused some users to be unable to access media files hosted on their servers (i.e. our audio). The situation was recognized and resolved immediately, but due to the nature of the DNS system, some users have cached the incorrect data, either on their computer, or on the ISP DNS servers. As with everything DNS related, the caches will time out, and the correct data will be received, and we’ve been told the maximum time this will take is 24 hours. (It’s usually much shorter, however) In the meantime, a potential remedy for end users is a reboot of their computer to hopefully flush that local cache.
Another remedy for getting the audio to work is to add the following 3 lines to your system’s hosts file, and you can get the audio links to work.
216.246.5.5 media.libsyn.com
38.100.193.81 media.libsyn.com
205.234.175.175 cache.libsyn.com
System hosts file are in different places, but for on my Windows XP it’s found at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\
Sorry for the inconvenience…
- Eran
I’m so addicted to Koreanclass101 already that I check back for new lessons about 3 times a day! I’d love to learn some key media words so I can understand what BoA’s singing a bit better…
And what they’re saying in “My Sassy Girl,” my favorite film!
ALRIGHT! A new lesson coming up!
Wakuwaku as you say in japanese. I’m excited.
Btw shouldn’t it be “News #2″ rather than the date? You need to have some kind of structure
I am hoping to see good things….I understand the need for the media stuff, but I am not entirely sure anyone who comes here to learn Korean doesn’t already have a huge stack of Korean movies, music, dramas. Or at least is familiar with the K-entertainment.
I really want to learn the grammar order the sentence makeup. I don’t want to be a parrot I want to formulate my own thoughts and sentences. Did that make sense? I don’t mean to come off negatively at all.
Victoria!
Your not alone on these, I’m also doing the same since I found JP101, SP and now KC101 too.
I haven’t stop since last year and I’m still strong has a turtle shell and thank you to all JP101 crew/listeners.

PS: Vic I see you have myspace too, Can I add you hope you don’t mind.
Yes, you seem to be having the same problem as JapanesePod101.com
I have not been able to d/l today’s news update. Is this problem only for people using iTunes, or for people in a specific geographical region?
Eran-san!
I’m with you my friend, I really hope everything solves out.

Sindy님! (nim)
I don’t do my space at all. It’s up to you to add me or not, but you won’t see me there. Sorry!
To others, I think studying k-drama will help you to study hearing/understanding parts. I personally learned English by watching those kind of soap operas and my hearing was very good before I started to speak in English. Then, I started to learn writing and grammar stuff which is bored sometimes.
I would say…it’s all positive, and learning new language with some kind of entertainment is definitely helps!
Vicky… Sindy refered most likely to “victoria” and no to you
Hi all
i think those are very good ideas , i really like the idea of a enterteinment series especially music and dramas
i’ve been watching korean dramas for over five years now
without understanding anything of course
a blog talking about everyday occurences , culture etc
good luck
I think the idea of a media related course would be good as a supplement to the usual newbie/beginner/intermediate pods. We watched 대장금 recently and it was difficult to understand. They used a lot of archaic terms/phrases I think.
One of the things I find most interesting with period dramas in particular is the subtleties of language with respect to levels of politeness/social status that are lost with subtitles. Could make for some very interesting podcasts
.
It’s ok Vicky 비키
You are a very intelligent person so don’t say that about yourself. You know that I like you too!
JockZon (JZ)
Thank you my friend!
Rigo!
I agree with you I want another girl like Miki that does Japanese blogs but instead doing her korean blogs. It would be beautiful and sweet aaahhh!

I’m definitely excited to learn Koreanpod. Can’t wait!
Victoria=ssi, do you know how to use an RSS reader? It automatically checks the site for new material for you.
One of the other benefits is that you can read every post made at the site without having to visit it for each one.
Actually, without an RSS reader, I’m not sure if VIctoria-ssi will be able to read this post…. maybe I’m just talking to myself…. ![]()
If anyone sees Victoria=ssi, let her know to get herself an RSS reader!
Haha, I see your post, maxiewala-ssi! I’ll see about getting the RSS reader. It’s alright to add me, Sindy, as long as we keep in touch and it’s not just for making a huge friend collection. Also, I haven’t really heard any Kpop or watched any K-Dramas; I’m more into Jpop, which is where I found BoA.
Also, my computer won’t let me see East Asian fonts! It needs some sort of CD that I don’t possess, so I think I’m up the creek without a paddle at the moment.
I’ve been in China for the past few weeks, and I am going back to Korea today!!
I’m so excited!! And once I’m back in Korea, I hope I can share a lot more photos and videos of Korea with all of you in the forums
Making a separate series for ‘media language’ will be a very good idea, and of course we’ll have this as a supplement to the main lessons in different levels, so this should come as something really useful and familiar to those who’ve already watched some Korean TV dramas or movies.
Victoria!
Yes we will keep in touch promise! Thank you for your add
I heard about that too! Some people on myspace just want to make a huge friends list and don’t even know the person.
I have like 90 friends only and I keep in touch by sending message if they don’t reply back then it’s their problem I keeping my promise anyway.
I have to admit that I haven’t post on people profile while ago but don’t worry you will have my post there soon.
Hyunwoo Sun(선현우)
Your a very lucky guy!
I wish I could go to China, Korea and Japan but sooon I will be there so wait for me my Asian people.

Anyong haseyo! I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am to that KoreanClass101 is a reality! I think you should definitely do the entertainment series. I’m a big fan of Korean drama (just finished one called Life Again w/Uhm Tae Woong and now I’m watching The Devil again with Uhm Tae Woong). Keep up the good work!
Good point Steved I notice in alot of k-dramas/movies that the English subtitles are a bit lacking. The more Korean I learn the more of a rip off the subtitles seem to be. They get the jist but not the actual conversation.
